Jurisdiction determines the source
A familiar label can cover different official records. “Court record” may refer to a federal docket, a state appellate opinion, or a county trial-court file. “Business record” may mean an SEC filing or a state entity registration. Start with the government level and office that created the record.
Availability also differs from legal usability. A document may be viewable but not certified, complete, current, or appropriate for a particular decision. Follow the official source’s restrictions and obtain legal advice when the intended use carries legal consequences.
These entries link record categories to official discovery points. They do not provide personal dossiers, background checks, or name-based lookup tools.
